Bruce Springsteen Unlocks the Vault: Seven ‘Lost’ Albums to Be Released in 2025
Bruce Springsteen is dusting off the archives and giving fans a long-awaited gift — seven full-length albums spanning four decades that have never seen the light of day, until now.
Titled Tracks II: The Lost Albums, the new box set will feature 83 tracks, 74 of which have never been officially released, and will be available on seven CDs or nine vinyl LPs. The collection is being hailed as a treasure trove for fans and music historians alike.
“This is music I’ve shared with close friends for years,” Springsteen said. “I’m glad the rest of the world will finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.”
From 1983 to 2018: A Hidden Timeline
The recordings, made between 1983 and 2018, reflect the diversity and evolution of Springsteen’s musical journey. Highlights include:
- Born in the USA sessions – working tapes from the era that produced some of his biggest hits.
- Faithless – a soundtrack to a movie that never got made, marked by drum loops and synths.
- Somewhere North of Nashville – a country-flavored album from May 1995.
- Twilight Hours – an orchestrated pop record, sibling to Western Stars (2018).
- Inyo – featuring borderland storytelling with Latin American themes.
- Perfect World – a compilation of songs co-written with Joe Grushecky.
Pandemic Productivity
Springsteen credits the COVID-19 lockdown with giving him the time to complete these long-shelved recordings. “The pandemic gave me the opportunity to finish everything I had in my vault,” he said.
Fans already have a taste of what’s to come with the release of “Rain In The River”, a gritty, guitar-driven track from Perfect World showcasing the power of the E Street Band.
The Legacy Continues
The box set is a follow-up to 1998’s Tracks, but instead of collecting scattered rarities, Tracks II presents complete albums, offering a more cohesive look into Springsteen’s creative process and evolution.
Though Springsteen once said he only released music he deemed “essential,” this release challenges that notion by opening up unreleased chapters that still carry the soul and grit fans love.
The announcement comes just ahead of Springsteen’s European tour kickoff, with stops in Manchester, Berlin, Prague, and more. At 75, the Boss shows no signs of slowing down — even as he juggles life on the road and supporting his wife, Patti Scialfa, following her cancer diagnosis.
